An annoying, (usually fat) tourist who wears socks with sandals and act like they own the beach even though they only go for a week.

Sam from Rocket Power was such a shoobie.

Shoobie

A tourist of South Jersey beaches, who has no clue what the hell they are doing at the beach or in general. The term originated when tourists visiting from Philadelphia carried their lunches in shoe boxes.

Tourists who invade beaches, primarily in the summer time, or other beach seasons.

You know you're a shoobie when: 1. You wear sneakers & socks on the beach, 2. Use of tents &or umbrellas, 3. VISORS, 4. Boogie Boards, 5. "Wings" bags, 6. A plethora of zinc sunscreen, 7. Having an array of sandwhiches packed away in your cooler

Shoobies

Term used by home owners in beach towns referring to the renters in the summertime. They always come in and pack the bars, trash the streets and then leave. Best known for pissing on the sidewalk and drunkenly not being able to find their way back home.

THOSE DAMN SHOOBIES ARE ALWAYS TRYING TO COME IN AND RUN OUR BEACH TOWN.

shoobie

1. n. Regional nickname denoting a toursist to the southern New Jersey shore. This term originated in the 1920's when tourists, visiting the beaches were easily identified by the shoeboxes the brought to carry their lunches.
2. n. Any person who looks out of place while at the beach. Usually identified by the wearing of black party socks with shorts and flip-flops and/or a severe sunburn.

This traffic is terrible. I can't wait until these shoobies go home.
