1.wandering aimlessly under the direction of someone just as lost as you are
2. taking the longest most dangerous path available
3. dragging ones feet to avoid having to do work for others.

sandcut

A shortcut taken across desert sand. This is very common in the Middle East where populations are growing faster than infrastructure, such as is the case in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Traffic was so bad on Emirates Road that I had to take the sandcut between Dubai and Sharjah.
