Often written as "long $ROPE" this phrase is used when someone has lost a lot of money on an investment. This is most commonly seen on r/WallStreetbets and is used to indicate that the poster should invest in rope i.e. hang themselves.

In online game playing, "roping" is when one player deliberately slows down the gameplay in hopes his/her opponent will concede rather than keep playing.
This term originates from the Hearthstone game, which showed a burning rope about 30 seconds before your turn would time out. "Roping" meant to delay finishing your turn until the rope started to burn (or even until just before the rope burned out).

Roping should really only be frustrating if you think you're winning, but only the most dedicated fans will put up with very much of it.

Yeah. Couldn't take being exposed as a genetic failure every waking moment, even by his own parents.
