Risperdal is an atypical anti-psychotic and anti-
anxiety medication. It is often prescribed along with other medications. It's good for schizophrenia, anxiety, and also for irritability from
autism spectrum (Propranolol works better for anxiety and irritability, but both probably work best). It reduces dopamine and serotonin. Adding an SSRI like Lexapro can help with
depression. Sometimes more medications are needed, but they lower the dose of the other medications. Side effects of Risperdal include sleepiness and weight gain (though I didn't gain more than like
10 to 15 pounds and it's slowly in a year or two). Doses of 3mg to 4mg+ work for anxiety. Higher doses are for schizophrenia.
Timothy: I took 3mg of Risperdal a day and 20mg times 2 of Propranolol equaling 40mg for my
anxiety and I feel relaxed. And I didn't gain as much weight as I thought I was going to.
Sam: I'm taking geodon for schizophrenia. I hate Risperdal! It makes you really fat.
Timothy: I didn't get too fat.
Sam: Lucky you.
