The act of aggressively scrolling through the internet long past the point of exhaustion, actively moving backward against your biological need for sleep. A phenomenon where your sleep schedule enters a state of complete chaos—much like Mercury in retrograde—simply because you refuse to put your phone down.

"I was exhausted at 10 PM, but I caught a bad case of retrograde doomscrolling. Next thing I know, it's 3 AM and I'm watching a 40-minute video essay on the history of discontinued sodas."

abandonware

n. software that is no longer sold or supported by the original publisher / developer, often found as free downloads on the internet because it cannot be obtained elsewhere. Not legal, but often seen as morally acceptable because the company that made it is no longer selling the title, nor releasing it as freeware, therefore abandonware is "keeping the game alive", so to speak.

Doom II is not abandonware because id still sells it, while The Incredible Machine is not sold, therefore is abandonware.
