To make a arrangment to do a said activity at another time.

First used when baseball games were rained out and fans were issued vouchers that allowed them to return and watch another game.
Bob was too busy trying to get laid, so he had to take a raincheck on our Halo 2 session.

Having plans cancelled at the last minute. Usually occurs when the person with whom you had plans gets a better offer, or is too tired/hungover/grouchy/pissed off at you to want to hook up.
I was going to have dinner with my homie, but he was too sleepy to go so he rainchecked me.

When someone is not interested in hanging out, but doesn’t wanna be a dick, so they ask for a raincheck.
Person 1: “Hey, wanna hang out tonight?”
Person 2: “Nah man, I’ll take a raincheck”

Person 1: “Wanna Netflix and chill?”
Person 2: “Raincheck, until next time?”
