Phantom Text Syndrome

Phantom Text Syndrome, or PTS, is an acute neurological phenomenon characterized by thinking you have received a text from someone (i.e. by vibration or sound indicator) when actually nothing has occurred. Recently coined by world-renowned Psychologist Gustav Kuznetsova, PTS is now accepted by the American Psychological Association.
Guy 1: (Abruptly reaches into his pocket)

Guy 2: "Got a text, dude?"

Guy 1: "Yeah, let me just…"(Pulls phone out to see a blank screen) "Oh, wait.
Forget it. Guess I was wrong."

Guy 3: "Phantom Text Syndrome!!!"

Guy 2: "Yo, I think they got meds for that shit now."

phantom text

A text that you swear you got. Either by feeling the vibration on your leg, or hearing your tone, or in the worst of cases both. But when you check your phone you are left feeling cheated.

A texting miscarriage.
Guy 1: "Dude, let's do something"
Guy 2: "I texted those girls I met yesterday, I think they just responded. Let me see what they said... Oh nevermind, it was a phantom text..."
Guy 1: "stfu man, nobody likes you."

Phantom Text Message

Like A phantom pregnancy. (Where you think you're pregnant but your actually not)
Whilst waiting for a text message, you think you can feel your phone vibrate and get excited but it is actually just your imagination.
Girl1: Oh! My phone's gone off!
Girl2: Omg, has he texted back?!
Girl1: Hmm, I haven't got anything, must be a Phantom Text Message.

phantom text message

You could swear you feel your phone vibrate against your thigh, but when you look there are no text messages.
You: (pulls phone out of pocket to check text)
Your wife: That better not be that little slut from your office texting you again!
You: It was a phantom text message, honest!

Phantom Text

When you have your cell phone in your pocket, you feel it vibrate across your leg, but when you look at your phone there is no notifications of a text message, or anything else of that matter.
It happens wherever, whenever. The Phantom Text happens to everyone with cell phones.

Phantom text

Feeling your cellphone vibrate in your pocket, even though it's not.
"Why does he keep looking at his phone?"

"The post-break-up stress disorder psychic-dols oodles embody themselves as phantom texts, dude. Give him a break!"
