Historians, with the aid of genetic scientists, indicate Philistines they ceased to exist as a distinct group ~5th Century BC. Unlike their enemies in Philistia, Israel/Judah resisted and persisted. So, the Colonizers and Oppressors renamed Israel/Judah after their enemies. (Much like Trump tried to rename Denali "Mt. McKinley" again.) Thus, the region of Palestine was born -- much the way the US region of "The South" was born, on Cherokee land.
