Overclusterfuckification

Definition

The process of taking an already complicated, disorganized, inefficient, or poorly functioning situation and making it substantially worse through the addition of unnecessary people, procedures, rules, meetings, technology, bureaucracy, opinions, approvals, or attempted solutions.

Overclusterfuckification occurs when efforts intended to solve or improve a problem instead create additional layers of complexity, confusion, delay, and dysfunction until the resulting situation becomes significantly more difficult than the original problem.

Distinction

A clusterfuck is a badly confused, disorganized, or dysfunctional situation.

Overclusterfuckification is the process by which a manageable problem, or even an existing clusterfuck, is unnecessarily transformed into a much larger and more complicated one.
