Ngarimu takes great pride in knowing he was named after Moana-Nui-a-Kiwa Ngarimu VC.

A New Zealand Māori soldier and posthumous recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. He was the first Māori person to be awarded the VC.
