Mu'tazila

Mu'tazila / المعتزلة is a rationalist school of Islamic theology and a political movement which remained neutral during the Sahaba disputes. The Mu'tazilites reached their political peak during the Islamic state / Caliphate of Al-Ma'mun. The Mu'tazilites were celebrated during the Islamic Golden Age. Today Mu'tazilites exist mainly in the Maghreb and Yemen.

Opposing secular rationalism, the Mu’tazila are theological rationalists, and therefore not rationalists in the sense of those who claim to formulate a system solely by the exercise of reason, independent of all revelation. But the Mu'tazila are Islamic rationalists, in their belief that religious understandings are accessible to man by means of his intelligence and reason.
The Mu'tazila and the Mu'tazilites are the greatest Islamic movement!!!
