A common spelling mistake for the response "LMAO" and other versions of said acronym, usually with more O's or more random capitalization. LMAO stands for Laughing My Arse Off, and LMAI, stands for Laughing My Arse In. The word has 2 meanings.
1. Same usage as LMAO, communicating extreme hilarity. Usually to respond to a joke.
2. When someone says a joke and you don't think it's funny, but laugh sarcastically. Examples below.

"laughing my ass in" - basically the same thing as lmao (laughing my ass off) but better ! with lmao you are laughing out loud where people hear you. with lami you are not really laughing out loud but you think its funny but not that funny that you are actually laughing out loud.
