Iqta' (also spelled iqta, eqta, or iqta'a) was a unique land revenue assignment system practiced in the medieval Islamic world, particularly in the Abbasid Caliphate and the Delhi Sultanate.
The governor managed several villages under his iqta', collecting taxes while maintaining local security.
