Infraskepticism

A critical approach that examines the infrastructure underlying skepticism—the institutions, technologies, social networks, and cultural norms that enable certain forms of doubt while suppressing others. Infraskepticism asks: Who gets to be a skeptic? What platforms amplify some skeptical voices while marginalizing others? How does the education system shape what counts as “healthy” doubt versus “conspiracy”? It reveals that skepticism is not a pure, neutral posture but is embedded in material and social conditions that determine whose doubts are taken seriously.

Example: “Her infraskepticism showed that online ‘skeptic’ communities weren’t equally open to all—they had their own funding sources, hierarchies, and gatekeepers, often excluding marginalized voices while calling themselves rational.”
