Expression started in 1995 in Muncie IN. When asked where my ex boyfriends possesions were, he would say "In Kokomo" because his ex girlfriend lived there and he left everything with her to avoid drama. "It's in Kokomo"is an appropriate answer for anything lost or left with an ex.

Him: I used to have an X Box
Me: Where is it?
Him: It's in Kokomo.

It is an outdated british slang phrase meaning "it is ready" or "it will be happen". It comes from old film industry slang, when the film was ready to be released.

Journalist: This movie took so long that it was almost forgotten...
Film director: Everybody made an excellent job, the film is in the can.
