A great Nirvana song
The song's name came from a heart-shaped box Love had given Cobain. However, Cobain had originally titled the song "Heart-Shaped Coffin"

The freakiest video Nivana ever made. Much better when you don't have to see a little girl in a ku klux klan running around and a guy in a santa hat being crucified. Was originally Heart shaped coffin.

She eyes me like a pisces when I am weak
I've been locked inside your heart-shaped box for weeks
I was drawn into your magnet tar pit trap
I wish I could eat your cancer when you turn back
Hey
Wait
I've got a new complaint
Forever in debt to your priceless advice
Hate
Haight
I've got a new complaint
Forever in debt to your priceless advice
Hey
Wait
I've got a new complaint
Forever in debt to your priceless advice
Meat-eating orchids forgive no one just yet
Cut myself on angel's hair and baby's breath
Broken hymen of your highness I'm left black
Throw down your umbilical noose so I can
Climb right back
I've been locked inside your heart-shaped box for weeks
I was drawn into your magnet tar pit trap
I wish I could eat your cancer when you turn back
Hey
Wait
I've got a new complaint
Forever in debt to your priceless advice

a uterus often referred as the origin of the "heart" symbol.
Nirvana wrote a song about it while his wife was pregnant with his child.
..If you look at a photo of a uterus and draw a semi-circle at the beginning of the fallopian tubes and a "V" near the cervex it makes a "heart"

The song by Nirvana was through the eyes of an aborted fetus-- Or, at least, that is one of the interpretations. The Heart-Shaped Box in this case could be a name for the uterus.
Courtney Love gave Kurt Cobain an actual box shaped like a heart, containing love letters, the head of a baby doll and other things symbolic in their relationship. Therefore, the title of the song has a double-meaning.
