False Emergency Panic
The process or aftermath of issuing a warning to a population regarding a weather event, military threat, or other potential danger, which subsequently leads to panic, particularly when the warning may have been a false alarm and panic was not needed. This term is frequently utilized by the National Weather Service during Damage Assessment Conventions.
Today NOAA accidently did a False Emergency Panic (FAP) over a storm that never was destructive. Authorities are discussing if the warning was fair or not.
