Epistemonaut

One who, upon encountering an unfamiliar term, investigates its meaning rather than objecting to its unfamiliarity.
Episteme (ἐπιστήμη): meaning knowledge, science, or understanding. Naut (ναύτης): meaning sailor or navigator (as in astronaut or argonaut).

I’m increasingly convinced that epistemonauts are my people. (This would be posted to see who self-selects themselves as hungry researchers.)

Epistenaut 

A voyager or traveler of knowledge, understanding and learning. Aka, an academic, scholar, or other knowledge-seeking individual. Comes from the Greek episteme--meaning knowledge, and the also Greek nautes--meaning sailor. Similar (and inspired by) astronaut. (From the Greek astron--star, and nautes--sailor, (again).

A much better term for a geek or bookworm.

Appropriate for resumes and embroidered pillows.

Not to be confused with pistenaut, which means sailor of urine. Comes from... well.

"Dude, your (sic) a geek!" -Boring, average individual
"No. I'm an epistenaut." -Epistenaut

"I AM AN EPISTENAUT!!!" -Epistenaut practicing katharsis during finals week.

Epistemolatry

Dogmatic worship of a particular epistemological system (e.g., empiricism, rationalism, positivism) as the only legitimate way to know anything. Epistemolaters refuse to consider alternative ways of knowing, such as intuition, testimony, tradition, or embodied experience. They treat their preferred epistemic rules as sacred and any deviation as irrational or sinful. This is distinct from normal philosophical commitment because it is uncritical, absolute, and dismissive of other frameworks. Epistemolatry closes off inquiry rather than enabling it.

Example: “Her epistemolatry led her to dismiss indigenous oral history as ‘not real knowledge’ because it didn’t meet her positivist standards—she worshipped her epistemology more than actual understanding.”
