EKK-ing is placing one hand over your mouth, in a surprised manner- to show that you are either :
a) shocked
b) can't believe you just heard/or said something
c) embarrassed
d) trying to be cute and innocent.

"I DIDN'T KNOW THERE WAS A FIFTY POUND NOTE!"
(the person who says this uses the EKK! by putting their hand over their mouths because they are :
a) shocked
b) embarrased)
