To snitch on someone. Often, to save their own ass. Comes from the old cost for a payphone call, ten cents.

1. To snitch on another individual, usually to report an illegal act to law enforcement.
2. To unknowingly waste an exceptional amount of money on something.

To inform on someone who committed an unacceptable or illegal act. Back in the day, phones in booths cost ten cents for a call. A caller would drop a dime into the coin slot to make a phone call to the police.
