Kardashev Type 5.0 Multiversal Civilizations

A civilization whose energy source and domain extend beyond a single universe into the multiverse—the hypothetical set of all possible universes with different physical laws. This involves accessing energy from other universes, creating or destroying pocket dimensions, and navigating the landscape of string theory or quantum branch points. Their science is one of infinite possibilities.
Kardashev Type 5.0 Multiversal Civilizations Example: The Downstreamers from Stephen Baxter's Manifold series, who eventually engineer entire universes to their specifications, or beings that can move between alternate realities at will, like the Interdimensional Council of Reeds in Marvel Comics, operate at a Type 5.0 level.

Civilization II

A classic turn-based strategy game created by Sid Meier. Endorsed by world leaders like Vlad Putin, George Bush and Saddam. Still modded and played by a small, Illuminati-like online cabal. True believers consider CIV2 the best of the series. Back in the glory days, CIV2 was as infamous as Morrowind for robbing players of whole days, weeks and months of their lives.

civilization syndrome

Civilization Syndrome is an affliction targeting gamers, especially turn-based strategy gamers, in which they promise themselves "just one more turn"--only to realize that seven hours have passed and they've soiled their drawers.

Most games that cause Civilization Syndrome possess an explosive mixture: they create long to-do lists for the player, which grow infinitely and exponentially with each completed task, and combine that with the ability to complete tasks easier and quicker than real-life, thus creating an overwhelmingly addictive illusion of achieving things.

Note that a game doesn't have to be turn-based to cause Civilization Syndrome, it merely has to produce addictive and never-ending to-do lists.

Named after Sid Meier's Civilization series, which codified most turn-based strategy tropes present in today's games.
"It was ten PM, my game was going really well, and I just had a few more things I wanted to finish before calling it a night. Next thing I knew the sun was rising. I got fucked by Civilization Syndrome."

breakaway civilization

A term first coined by UFO researcher, Richard Dolan, back in 2010. The term is his description of a particularly wealthy and powerful sub-set of the human race whom he believes have been secretly amassing for themselves exotic and highly advanced technology. Via this hoarding of high tech for themselves (and by keeping it from the rest of the world) these highly-placed elites actually live secret, hidden lives of extreme opulence and leisure. He has even postulated that via this advanced tech, they have built separate cities for themselves, located ether in remote places (such as underground, or on the ocean floor, or within the mountains of Antarctica, etc), or even off world.

The 2013 Matt Damon movie "Elysium" had a similar premise involving a massive, self-sustaining city that orbited the Earth and was the exclusive domain of the very wealthy. The only difference here is that in the movie "Elysium," the titular orbital city was not a secret, but rather its existence was fully known about by all peoples of Earth who could clearly see it orbiting overhead. The city was merely inaccessible to anyone who was not a wealthy elite.
The wealthy elites of the world have built for themselves a breakaway civilization, separate from the rest of the unwashed masse, where they enjoy technology far advanced from what we currently have.

Civilization affect

The ability of any game of the Civilization series to produce an addiction sufficient to warp spacetime around the player. Results in being tardy or accidently pulling a video game all-nighter.
Gamer Dude #1: "Well, I was playing Civilization 4 in the afternoon, and then, suddenly, it was the next morning!"

Gamer Dude #2: "Sounds like the Civilization affect, alright."
