Person 1: I'm really sorry, my mom just died and it's hitting me a lot harder than I expected... She and I kind of had a falling out when she remarried and allowed her new spouse to mistreat me and my sibling for so long, but now all I can think of is the fact that now we'll never have a chance to fix things. What if her dying thoughts were of her broken relationship with me? I had so many chances to reach out, and I almost did so many times, but it just never happened... I still stand by my anger at her, but part of me wonders if we couldve worked to resolve things. Part of me wonders if it's my fault we hadn't spoken in maybe a few years when she died, and not more than a few brief, blunt, cold words in maybe twelve years. abandonware

n. software that is no longer sold or supported by the original publisher / developer, often found as free downloads on the internet because it cannot be obtained elsewhere. Not legal, but often seen as morally acceptable because the company that made it is no longer selling the title, nor releasing it as freeware, therefore abandonware is "keeping the game alive", so to speak.

Doom II is not abandonware because id still sells it, while The Incredible Machine is not sold, therefore is abandonware.
