the act of replacing letters with numbers to save characters in a text message or even just as an attempt to be cool

EXAMPLES: Hi H8er. Lets go sk8boarding! every1 wants 2 c u b4 u leave! some1 2 talk 2

Man, that text fiend will numbreviate even when she doesnt have to.

Hannah got so used to numbreviating in her text messages that she turned in her grad school thesis full of numbreviations!
