Ross-is-fine syndrome

The strange, often concerning behaviour that many people exhibit following a break up with their significant other, and/or in response to the jealousy of seeing them with someone else, in an attempt to cover up how broken they are deep down.
It usually consists of trying to act happy, and like everything is perfectly normal, psychologically blind to the fact that they are acting anything but normal.

Named for the behaviour Ross Geller exhibits in the "Friends" episode "The One Where Ross is Fine"

"Man, Matt just broke up with Stephanie yesterday and this morning he invited me to a concert next week and started talking about his plans to become a YouTuber! Is he ok?"
"He will be, man. He's just got Ross-is-fine syndrome. Give him some time to grieve"

When a girl says I'm fine it means that she isn't fine it means the total opposite of FINE

I’m fine

The word people tell there friends or family to hide the fact that they’re crying at night because they can’t do it in front of people because they don’t want people to think their weak. They say “I’m fine” because they want to be the strong friend people go to for advice and make if them feel happy if their feeling depressed.

Friend: Are you ok?
Me: yea I’m fine.
Friend: oh ok.
Me:so what’s wrong?

i’m really not fine. i’m broken and hurting but don’t want to tell any1 because don’t want them to have to worry or deal with your problems. or i’m seriously mad at you.

it’s fine

when someone, usually a female, replies with “it’s fine”, it’s NOT fine.

they’re hurt, and they’re just pretending that it’s fine.

especially when they add “lol” or “haha” at the end of it’s fine, you know it’s anything but fine with them.

John: Hey..I’m really sorry I left your message on read yesterday.
Samantha: It’s fine.

i’m fine

when someone says "i’m fine", 99% of the time they are really not. you should really call them, text them, or just have a chat with them. they need to talk. doing so will absolutely make their day.

Luke : Yo is everything okay?
Sophie : Oh yeah uh i’m fine...
Luke : No i know you’re not i’m going to call you.
