Latin america 

Term used to describe countries in North, South and Central Americas where Spanish, Portuguese and French are spoken as official languages. (NB: don't mix up the terms "latin countries" with "underdevelopment countries", which are completely different in meaning.)

Although Guyana, Jamaica and Suriname are in South America and Caribbean region they are not latin contries as English and Dutch are their official languages.

Literally refers to all Caucasian Americans, but is often used to refer to whites who live in the suburbs or to white, rural middle-America. Because urban whites do not live in communities as raciallly homogenous as suburban or rural whites, they are often exempted from the definition of this word.

Ameriker 

How most english people refer to the USA. Frequently heard on BBC radio.

Originated in the 18th century when english impearialists were refering to their american possessions, most of which were in what would later become the USA.
Then the 13 colonies got independence, british possessions were limited to the Hudson Bay Company and Atlantic provinces of Canada (Newfoundland and what had been Acadia under the French) as well as a few islands in the West Indies. Since then Ameriker has been the way the English refer to the first land to break away from the British Empire.
