Pleasanton, CA

Pleasanton is a bland, boring upper-middle class suburb, where everyone lives in ludicrous McMansions, drives luxury European cars, and the kids have 5,000 extracurricular activities. Everything is very clean. The town mall, Stoneridge, had a reputation in the 90's for being the most upscale mall for miles. The sun is always shining (literally).

In other words, Pleasanton is Stepford, Bay Area-style. You may never again see such a high concentration of Stepford-ness in California (right down to voting Republican!).

Perhaps the only difference from Stepford-land is the diversity. Pleasanton was a haven for rich, Republican WASPs in the 80's and 90's. Now the town is dominated by Jewish, East Asian and Indian millionaires.

Foothill High Kid: I wanted to organize a charity event with the kids over in Oakland, but when I emailed our principal about it, the whole administration reacted in horror.

Foothill High Mom: I would hope so. We would never allow you to mix with kids from Oakland and I'm glad the school understands that!

Foothill High Kid: Mom, you sound like all the other Stepford wives in Pleasanton, CA.

A usually green (can be yellow or red, depending on the Sim), diamond-shaped parallelogram over the head of a Sim character from the two best-selling PC games of all time, The Sims and The Sims 2, that depicts the mood that specific Sim is in.

playing position

usually refers to the storage of a stringed instrument (i.e. guitar, violin). When resting, a stringed instrument kept within a case in the playing position may stay in tune more effectively, since its parts will have less adjusting to do when the instrument is being played.

Guitarists should keep their instruments in a hard case, storing it long-ways in the playing position so that the instrument looks just like it would if it were being held and played.

plastic sorgery

Plastic surgery that requires a form of sorcery to be successful. Said to be particularly helpful for individuals who's face is seen on TV, such as David Pakman, the host of The David Pakman show, who was asked by a caller to get some plastic sorgery to fix his face, in order to convince the caller to watch the show more.

David Pakman could use some plastic sorgery to fix his face. I would watch The David Pakman show on YouTube more if he did.
