A shared delusion, typically by followers of a leader who has deluded ideas they fully accepted as their own.

The podcast had no listeners and was a rambling boring mess with occasional vulgarities, but the shallusion continued because they didn't want to believe they had to work on their careers.

The Latin phrase "incidit in scyllam, cupiens vitare charybdim" comes from Greek mythology in the story of Odysseus known also as Ulysses. Scylla and Charybdis were rocks on either side of a narrow inlet. The phrase means trying to avoid Charybdis one founders on Scylla. It represents the idea of having to choose between two evils and has the force of being "on the horns of a dilemma," "between the devil and the deep blue sea."

Shell Shock

A slang term for "post-traumatic stress disorder". A condition which often occurs for those who have been in active combat. Can affect the body in various ways, but can be treated.

He was suffering from a serious case of shell shock after 'nam.

Turtle shell

The really annoying things in mario kart that fuck you up really bad. They come in three different types:green, red(or brown), or blue. The green ones aren't so bad they just fling around stupidly. The brown ones, you should watch out for.
They seek the person in front of you and fuck them up. The blue ones automattically go to the player in 1st place.

"I was in first place, then fuckin yoshi threw a red turtle shell at me and I got fourth."
