friendzone

When a female that the male finds attractive initiates, seeks out or is receptive to regular contact with the male but rejects any hint of a relationship suggested by him. Never mentioning any boyfriend, especially if initiated after initial friendship with the male, she may even be between relationships; but at the very least has the friended male as a backup plan and enjoys leading him on as time goes by. As such there may be deception on part of the female to divert conversation away from anything to suggest she has a boyfriend which will upset and\or lead the friended male to walk away. There may be relationship instability with her partner and she seeks out the friended male for emotional support. In the ultimate double standard, she stakes a claim on the friended male while progressing other outside possibilities or an actual relationship with her partner which is kept secret. As there is lingering doubt in the mind of the female, one avenue the friended male can pursue is to improve his physical appearance. He can also friend other females around her to see if she becomes jealous as a sign of how much she may like him. Lastly the friended male can query common friends to try to ascertain if she is single but he may avoid this for his own emotional wellbeing. However if the male uncovers the deception of the female in a secret active relationship, his trust and friendship with her will be eroded; ultimately putting any possible relationship with him at risk.
