Brainrot

An extreme form of jargon, characterized by the indiscriminate use of colloquialisms and other popular sayings with little regard to their original meaning. Most commonly associated with the internet-based culture of generation Z.

Brainrot example:

Person 1: "let's hawk tuah on this thang"
Person 2: "spit your shit, my fellow skibidi"
Person 3: "I'm totally gooning to this later, chat"

Person 2 sees what the kid is watching

Brainrot

Nowadays mostly a derogatory term, but in some cases used to describe something as 'low quality', though 'slop' would be a better definition, it is an adjective for content made for little kids, mostly, and is nonsensical, weird, otherworldly, even. It is derived from the action of consuming so much slop-content, that it rots your brain, handicapping you to be addicted to such content, and can, in most cases, not separate brainrot content from reality.

Getting 'infected' by brainrot, related to how only being shown a video of brainrot, or being exposed to brainrot, or someone who is 'infected', is also a derogatory action.

"Yo, look at this."
"*Shows guy an AI video of a three-legged shark with cool kicks on*"
"That shit's just brainrot."

Brainrot Content 

Brainrot Content refers to the various "short" type-videos (typically a YouTube short, a TikTok, an Instagram reel etc.) that swarm Social Media feeds. It's very easy to get sucked in and watch one short after another without even noticing. This lack of stimulation (or more correctly, EMPTY stimulation) "rots" the brain because of its self-repetition and low quality.

Guy 1: "Hey man, Sorry I couldn't come to the party, I scrolled through youtube shorts and forgot."
Guy 2: "What the fuck man! Don't watch that, that's brainrot content!"

Opposite to brainrot, having a brainrot era pertains to a particular kind of situation where your workplace is getting more toxic day to day, with combination of work politics and micromanagement.
