The TV thing

this difinition is commanly used when the name of the television remote suddenly seems to escape your mind. Mostly used by forgetful, idiotic, coach potatoes which are to lazy to get up and reach for the remote or are to unpatient to wait until the items actually name returns to them. This is usually the last resort of what someone would and could ever call their TV remotes.

coach potato blob boy: MUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! where's the....umm....the.....you know...the, it has buttons.

coach potatoes mother: what do you want now?

Name that thing on the screen before it disappears

A language game played by Brown University students in which an intricately timed powerpoint presentation displays images of clothes, food, etc. while students attempt to name the articles in a foreign language before they pass from one side of the display to the other.

Diego: And what is this.
Joe: der Handschuhe!!!
Diego: ...die Handschuhe?
Joe: Oh...yeah. I love "Name that thing on the screen before it disappears"!

thinger

thinger is a thing, something, thingamajig, and whatchamacallit. Used when referring to some kind of web entity including applications, procedures, etc.
Sometimes used to refer to people as a substitute for whatshisname or whatshername.

"I just finished building the spell check thinger for the new email publishing system."
