Grimblo

1. (noun) A person, typically Gen Z or Gen Alpha, whose personality has been completely marinated in the most chaotic and niche corners of the internet. They communicate almost exclusively through a jarring mashup of fandom references (like Hazbin Hotel, object shows, or Vocaloid), aggressive reaction memes, and video edits.

2. (adjective) Describes content that is a cringey, fandom-fried, and visually noisy assault on the senses. A piece of media is considered grimblo if it mashes together multiple unrelated and geeky aesthetics (e.g., analog horror, cute webcomics, edgy indie animation) into something deeply unsettling or awkward.

gramophone

not to be mistaken with “phonograph”

invented by emil berliner in 1887

the first gramophone, being one of emil berliner’s several inventions (not thomas edison, he pioneered sound recording and playback.) the design if the first gramophone being more of a skeletal frame design. it was hand cranked, but had no potential energy motor to store it. the speed and consistency was required by your own ears and lever spinning skill. the horn was paper mache, thus many original horns do not exist today.

eldridge johnson made a more iconic model of the gramophone, the victor toy gramophone. he had previously manufactured for emil berliner, becoming successful enough to open victor talking machine co. victor-c, victor junior are other iconic models. there is a long line of victor gramophones, and later victrola gramophones, and other companies too. columbia is another iconic company.

the gramophones are, of course, nothing without the playable music, records. however gramophones are different. gramophones require soft steel needles on the reproducers. the reason for soft steel is that it wont wear out the record too quickly. due to the softer stylus, every 1-3 plays, replace the needle. the edges become sharper like a pencil used one side a lot. these sharp edges cut into the side of grooves, making it harsher on the record; ruining in one play with a worn needle, plus the music quality will be reduced. most gramophones use steel needles with some, very few exceptions.

little grim

1. A term used when someone says something that is too bleak or depressing for that particular situation. It's generally used in a way that implies that person should tone it down, but in a way that isn't as harsh.

2. A term of endearment for a black dog. This is a reference to the grims from Harry Potter, which are mythical black dogs said to be omens of death. Calling your dog a little grim is similar to calling your black cat a familiar in that it is poking fun at the popular image of the animals.
1. Person A: "Dude, those ropes would be pretty good to hang yourself with!"

Person B: "That's a little grim, dude. This is a pirate ship ride. There are children here."

2. "Here's a picture of my little grim! He's a black lab."
