A lakepony lie is a motiveless, mostly innocuous lie told for no reason other than to amuse the liar or liars.

“Haha, I told Betty that Joe Pesci was my uncle, but it was just a lakepony lie.”

“You’ve heard of seahorses, but have you heard of their carnivorous, freshwater cousins lakeponies? “

“Can you believe Gordon totally bought that lakepony lie about peeing on his socks for good luck?!”
