Sometimes misinterpretation by “couldn’t care less”. Could care less is the correct option. Considering that “i couldn’t care less” means they care already, but can’t care any less than they already do. Now, “could care less” means they don’t care at all, so they dont care any less.

In this case, it is intended as an ironic insult, since it prompts the other person to reason out that the only reason it would make sense to say "I could care less" instead of "I couldn't care less" is if they cared some and yet still extremely little.
