A site that tries to be the musical equivalent to IMDb, but is just another music board that is filled with pseudo-intellectual indie twats who try to out-hip each other.

Has ridiculously high ratings for generic whiny indie bands (Radiohead, Arcade Fire, The Smiths, Neutral Milk Hotel, Pavement, ...) and therefore cannot be taken seriously.

Rate Swap

a financial instrument used to part fools from their money. Usually involves speculating on interest rates. The fools, or 'mark', in this con are often unsophisticated public officials such as school boards or county commissions who are gambling with your money. The fools are advised by sleazeballs known as 'financial advisers' or 'consultants'. The sleazeballs are paid by both the fool and either directly or indirectly by the counterparty that makes a shitload of money, the greedy grifters often referred to as 'banks'. The banks only lose often enough to keep the hopeful fools signing up. By the time fools realize they have been had, it is a lose-lose situation. Pay enormous fees to terminate the contract, or continue riding it into the hole, hoping for a miracle.

Rate-A-Chink

The process of rating Chinese buffets. The rating is based on the following: 1) quality of food; 2) atmosphere; 3) egg roll quality (are they ruined with cinnamon or lack of meat); 4) service; 5) cost. Having a stir fry table gives you bonus points. The rating runs 1-10.

Dan and I have extensively done Rate-A-Chink in the greater Mesa area, having rated every Chinese Buffet.

rate of broke

a calculation that grad students commonly make in the last one to two years of their studies. This calculation enables one to see how much time will pass until they are dead broke.

The rate of broke is customarily defined as the monthly rate at which graduate students approach Absolute Broke.

Typically, this calculation is relevant only for graduate students who are extremely frugal and accepted less financial aid than necessary to live assuming they would make up for the shortage of funds through the course of their program.

This rate is defined as the slope of the linear regression trend line that is the sum of all current assets and cash flows into the future.

Assuming:
y is dollar amounts
x is time in months

y = -717.93 x + 8391.6

Rate of Broke:
$717.93 / month

Time to Absolute Broke:
y = 0

x = 11.688 months until Absolute Brokeness
