ughhh i refuse to go to that frat with her. a lot of my friends are there and shes gets wayyyy too sloppy. then people look at me like im fucking crazy too...shes social liability, i cant deal with her.

Miss Libby

A very, very amazing dog who was born in Waco, Texas, and who died in Loveland, Colorado. Fuzzy. Barked when people came to the door. Liked going to the cafe. Not sure why. Adored by neighbors and passers-by alike. Sometimes threw up, resulting in our discovery that beneath the scraggly beige carpet there were oak floors from the 1950s. What else? I am Indian, and thus genetically and culturally inured to the charms of domestic animals. Yet, I fell in love with this pooch.

Conversation with a neighbor:
Me: I don't know why, but I've been missing that Libster more than ever.
Annie: Wow, Cordell was just saying that he's been missing Miss Libby too.
Me: Miss Libby....
Annie: Best dog ever.
Me: Yeah.

Labbit

Labbit is a cartoon character created by pop artist (previously known largely for his work creating posters for concert events) Frank Kozik of the San Francisco area for the pop merchandise company Kid Robot. It only exists on merchandise, and in that sense is similar to Hello Kitty.

The labbit is big and puffy similar to the Nintendo character Kirby. His shape remains the same, although his color, facial expression, existence of a mustache or items in his mouth vary. He comes in collectible figurines (and recently a foot stool) or printed on various articles of clothing.

Where did the word come from? According to an e-mail from Mr. Kozik himself:

Hey ******,

about 10 years ago I did version of the Rabbit with a company in Japan. It was supposed to be 'Smokin' Rabbit, but they printed it 'Smorkin Labbit which sounds about 1 billion times cooler so thus it became REAL.

libidinal investment

An attachment of strong, intense emotional energies to an issue, person, concept, etc., in such a way that one pays special attention to issues surrounding it and one reacts strongly to discussions and changes affecting it. Includes, but is not limited to, sexual and sublimated sexual attachments.

The term is psychoanalytic in origin and is widely used in cultural studies.

Right-wingers often have a strong libidinal investment in the idea of authority, so that they experience threats to authority almost as if they are threatened personally. This may be due to an Oedipal fixation in which their sense of personal identity fuses with that of the father, as threatening authority-figure, so as to enable the repression of castration-threat anxiety.
