Gabs Goodbye

An expression that originated in Gaborone, Botswana.
A Gabs Goodbye refers to leaving a party, social gathering or other meeting without saying goodbye to the host or anyone else i.e. one minute the guest is there and the next they aren’t. A well performed Gabs Goodbye will see the guest leave and their absence is not noticed until some time later

'Have you seen Marcus?'

'Last time I saw him he was at the bar saying how he heard there was a better party at Dale’s, I think he did a Gabs Goodbye and went there'

Slang for the Gabadine fabric slacks that were the "GQ" fashion of the 60's, especially in the Inner City communities. The slacks were pleated and cuffed with one "break" at the cuff.
