except not

except not or except I didn’t – ph. (best defined by examples)

example: “I finished my project, except not.”
translation: (a) I finished writing my paper but still have to write my speech. (b) I finished my speech but still have to write my paper. (c) All I have left to do is practice my speech. (d) I’m all done except for finding props. (e) etc.
example: “I’m taking band next year, except not.”
translation: (a) I’m only taking a semester of band. (b) I got stuck in the freshmen class. (c) I’m not in band class but I’m marching. (d) etc.
example: “I ate breakfast this morning, except not.”
translation: (a) I ate half a piece of toast for breakfast. (b) I ate during homeroom. (c) I ate and found out later it wasn’t breakfast. (d) etc.
note: “except not” phrases are almost always followed by an explanation.

except for eddie vedder

a phrase which is used as a joke literally at any gathering of people when someone (usually an organizer of the event) confirms that everyone, who was meant to come, has come; but then some bastard says this phrase suggesting that they have to wait for Eddie Vedder. the thing that makes it funny is that there's no meaning in this phrase at all, and there's no actual connection between Pearl Jam's frontman and the fact of him being or not being at any kind of meetings.

the use of the phrase can also be expanded by saying it whenever someone mentions something in plural form – see example 2.

Ex.1:
– finally everyone's here
– except for eddie vedder!
– what?

Ex.2:
– I'm gonna eat all of these sandwiches
– except for eddie vedder!
– what?

Homosexual Exception

Homosexual exception occurs when you are heterosexual yet you are sexually attracted to only one person whom is of the same sex, yet you are still heterosexual.

Samantha: I seriously have a homosexual exception for Linda! But I'm hetero!!
Carl: Um that is cool, I guess. Idk? What is that?
Samantha: It means that even though I am straight, I have a crush on Linda, whom is female.

null dot exception

In the computer technolgy industry in the US, specifically, refering to anyone who is not an Indian National (see definition of 'dot').

"John, who works for Acme Engineering, is their null dot exception." - the implication here, being that Acme Engineering is populated predominantly by Indians (dots, not woowoo).
