A potent strain of marijuana. Named because the AK stands for Afghan Kush, a mountain range in afghanistan where the strain originated. The 47 refers to the approximate 47 day flowering period, which is a shorter flowering period than most strains of marijuana.
All of the euros and little wigger kids who submitted a definition of AK 47 (the marijuana strain)to this site are morons and don't know what they are talking about.

Russian assault rifle, NOT MACHINE GUN, invented around 1947. Many models followed in its footsteps. It chambers a 7.62mm x 39mm round, Russian. (NATO 7.62s are 7.62mm x 45mm I believe.)

Avtomat Kalashnikov 47 is its full name. Real gangsters would use AK-47s, while the new age ones would use just 9mm. Guns that look like it star in many action games or movies, and it would even make appearances on TV shows.

One needs a class 3 license to legally own one of these AK-47s, unless its modified for semi-auto only. You can legally hunt with a semi-auto AK-47, since it does use a standard hunting round. (7.62mm). Rumor has it, it costs 300 dollars to buy one in the USA, but only like 40 U$D to buy it in Russia.

An example of a descendent of the AK47 would be the AK-74, which chambers a 5.45mm x 39mm round. I questioned around why Russians were so obsessed with making smaller bullets (even their 7.62 is smaller than NATO rounds), one response was "its cheaper. We Russians are poor."
AK-47 is a popular gun, carried from gangs to elite terrorist factions. It is also a very effecient assault rifle, but has a lot of kickback, because of the fact that its a sniper round. (7.62 is used in many snipers, and hunting rifles).

a shoulder fired assult rifle that was made into production an 1947. it fired a 7.62mm*39 round. it is gas operated which means the bolt moves back by using the gas exerted by the bullet. it has a muzzle velocity of 2350 fps. it is virtually indestructable and it was designed my avtomat kalashnikov. there is a newer version of the ak which is called the ak 74
the vietnamese used the ak 47. in the 60s the m16 vns were horrible so the us forces would use it and often get caught in frendly fire.

Kick ass gun made by a russian weapons designer by the name of Kalashnikov. It's the weapon of choice of the third world, dictator militias in developing countries, coup d'etats, gangs, and just about anyone who wants an inexpensive, durable, SMG performance rifle that's feared by every law enforcement group in the world (except for russian police, AK's are a standard issue there).

They fire the mid-sized but powerful 7.62x39 mm round at a mid-range fire rate, but the shiznit they punch out makes an american m-4 look like it's airsoft counterpart. This advantage is even complimented with the ease of use of the gun, easy found ammo, and durability of the carbine. You can literally throw a kalashnikov in the mud and stuff it with sand and fire it after without any jamming or messing of the barrel.
However, the AK isn't much of of a long range advocate. With open iron sights and warping wood stocks, you can't really trust the aim of the gun at any moment. But hell, that's where the phrase "spray and sweep" gets it's name from. Unload a 30 clip in the general direction of your target and your bound to put at least 5 rounds into em.
1) ...Oh, shit, it's Wayne Brady! The man's gotta AK! run for it-Kak! kak! kak!... (gets shot thrice in the back from the drive by)

2) hah, look at this, just got this new AK-47 from Don Jose in Monterrey. He buys 'em straight cash from Cuba: $150 a piece. Can't beat it...
