Shoes that are not quite flats or pumps, that are way too small for feet that are way too swollen or too big, and cause the shoes to flatten.

By the end of the long ceremony, her poor feet had swollen so much that her stylish little kitten heel shoes had turned into splats—those not-quite-flats, not-quite-pumps that get squashed into a pancake when the foot is way too big for them.

The lack of sound that a bug makes when it hits your windshield. This is caused from hot dry weather and no bug juice.

It has been so hot and dry out that when Pat and I were driving down the road we ran into a swarm of bugs and had nothing but dry splats which leave no marks on the windshield.
