social disconnect

A social disconnect is a person who avoids socializing with people due to one or all of the following: past bad experiences, general dislike of people, feeling different from others or feeling inadequate- this can be caused by being put down constantly or talked down to, being used by others, being underestimated by peers. People who are social disconnects rarely spend time in groups of people to avoid bad things from happening. People who are social disconnects have often been victims of social parasites so they withdraw from groups of people or people in general. In some extreme cases, social disconnects may become sociopaths. If a social disconnect can find a group of true friends, this can help them to be more trusting of others and helps them with their healing process.

Top Hat & Monocle Discussion

To engage in a civilized discussion based on compromising with the peers you discuss tripe with, while keeping an open mind and laughing away disagreements and agreements. Usually stereotyped and portrayal of well aged men donning the garb of the usual business man and sipping on the finest of wine in front of a raging fire.
Johnathan and William are the best of friends, who share their differences through agreements. They engage in Top Hat & Monocle Discussions to show that they can understand each other without the exchange of hurtful words.

William : Do you believe Abortion is right?

Johnathon : Oh William, you do know we have no say in the beliefs of others

William : people do have the power to influence, correct?

Johnathon : People should have their own choice, I personally don't believe in taking away the lives of unborn children only because their parent isn't supposedly "ready" but why should I have a say in their choice?

William : You're right, why should we decide for others.

reasoned discourse

Term for when gun control advocates regularly censor comments on their message boards or blogs. Usually when their arguments and claims are easily refuted.

Term comes from the last days of the old Brady Campaign blog where they ran a series called, of course 'Reasoned Discourse' where they highlighted alleged violent or disgusting comments they had received. This was shortly before they blocked all comments and later deleted them.
I pointed out that murder was already illegal and that making it moreso with a special gun murder statute was a bit silly. Reasoned discourse broke out, and my comment vanished from the blog.
