When a male member of the older generation commits an act or says something which is defined by younger peers as what an absolute 'Lad' would say/do.

"Your Dad is so funny, he should come out with us more often!"
"I know, right? He's like The 'lad' that time forgot!"

"You know, back in my day boys, I was considered a bit of a ladykiller!"

Irish Timing

When all the clocks are slightly wrong, and everyone's running slightly late (or early), but somehow everything happens at the right moment and everything works out.

1. I was running 20 minutes late, had lost my umbrella, and was worried about leaving the cat alone. Then Jim came back but he'd forgotten his keys. I let him in, he stayed home and looked after the cat and lent me his umbrella. Irish timing saved me again.
2. There was a car crash delaying the bus I was gonna take, so I didn't make it to the event. Turns out it was my Irish Timing. The event had been cancelled and I had a great night with my friends instead.

Good time Charlie

A person with a certain level of responsibility, such as a police officer or military. Who basically fucks off on their duties party, do/sell drugs, etc.

“You swear an oath to protect citizens above yourself every time you wear that uniform, but we all know you’re just a good time Charlie…you’re under arrest for taking bribes, drug trafficking, and solicitation of a prostitute.
