a person who tries to seek social acceptance either through:

1.) the expense of someone else
2.) the use of obsequious behavior
3.) "forced" companionship

while Lee and his two friends were walking in the mall..

Lee's friends: hey man let's go to the movies..
Lee: yeah man! good idea!

(Lee's mobile phone rings..) (kring.. kring..)

Lee: Hello..

Social Climber: Hey where are you?
Lee: at the mall with my close friends..
Social Climber: Cool.. ill go there ok?
Lee: uh.. actually we were planning on just the three of us close friends hanging out.. maybe next time.. is that ok?
Social Climber: i'm on my way to the mall. ill see you guys there..
Lee: uh....
Social Climber: (drops phone..) and is on his way..

lee and his friends have no choice but to either leave the mall before "social climber" arrives, or just deal with his annoying presence.

Socially Aggressive

A phrase used to describe someone who is determined to participate in or dominate a conversation or social situation. Socially aggressive people assume things are all about them and want to talk but never listen. They never feel uncomfortable because the never think about how others see them, and have no hesitation about crashing someone else's party/conversation/intimate moments.

As we were trying to cheer up Maria after her break-up, Scott wandered over and pushed himself into our circle, saying loudly that he couldn't believe the party didn't have his favorite brand of beer and then stayed for 10 minutes talking non-stop about his job. He was so socially aggressive we decided to avoid any other parties he might be at.

Social Media Ghost

Social Media Ghost is an Internet phenomenon that effects only a few people on social media, Internet forums, etc. Social Media Ghosts are people who are generally unnoticed online, thus generally unable to make friends or get replies/reactions to their posts, regardless of the content they post.

There doesn't appear to be a primal reason why some people are SMG, and others aren't.

Social Media Ghost isn’t contained to one website, but the entire Internet. Someone doesn’t have any followers or replies on one social media site or forum alone isn’t SMG.
Although much more rare, it seems to be possible for people who have friends offline to be SMG.
