This word has evolved beyond being solely a term of endearment used by African Americans when speaking to one another. I work as a NYC teacher and hear young people of all races using this word to describe non-females.

Not to be confused with nigger. Nigga is not a derogatory term but a compliment and can only be understood by individuals of an African decadency that share the same blood (mixed race are allowed to say it). You may need to prove identification when conversing with other niggas (passport).
