sugar shock

The net result of sugar shock is an immediate energy boost, only to be followed by a sudden drop of energy and fatigue 30-120 minutes later, usually worse than that experienced before consuming the refined sugar. After eating that sweet dessert, instead of getting a boost of energy, I got a serious case of sugar shock, so I went home for a nap.
