Sunshine Patriot

A word used in the essay "The American Crisis" by Thomas Paine in winter 1776 during the uncertain times of the American revolution.

The word Sunshine Patriot refers to individuals who claim to fight against tyranny on the side of freedom, yet are unable to stick it out when the going gets tough or unfavorable.

These individuals will "shrink from the service of their country" when conditions are bad or uncomfortable for them.

It is a term meant to shame those who are false-patriots who claim to be patriots, but will not give 100% effort when their moment of truth arrives.

#1 Although proclaiming to give 100% to the cause, Bob deserted it when the winter season came. Bob is a Sunshine Patriot.

SamShady

SamShady describes the guy who is extremely beautiful and sexy but super mysterious. No one gets close to him. His world is unknown to virtually everyone except him. He pretends most of the time in order to keep his true self a secret. This type of guy doesn't have many close friends. He lives in the shadows and walks between the lines. Because of his outward beauty, he attracts a long line of suitors but none of them could tell you anything extremely personal about him. He tend to be quiet and likes to observe everyone around him. This guys collects lovers but doesn't allow any of them to get too close. He keeps them on the fringes and plays with them until they tire of his game or he, of them and he then moves on, without remorse. The one vulnerable spot on this guy is his eyes. If you can capture his eyes, he will reveal himself to you. If you're lucky enough to get inside him, you will find a beautiful but guarded soul that is tender and loving and pure.

Michele: "See that hot guy, standing over there by the bar..."
Mari: "He's beautiful! Who is he?"
Michele: "I don't know but he is so SamShady! I bet every person in this place has hit on him tonight!"
Mari: "Those kind of guys always leave alone but never sleep alone."

Sunshine Pumping

Noun or Verb. It's the "Pollyanna approach" people, especially politicians and advertisers, use to persuade others that things are better than they really are in order to get what they want, your votes, your money etc. Politicians often do this when describing their accomplishments, especially the U.S. president in his State of the Union address. Advertisers make these exaggeratedly positive or down right untrue claims to convince the consumer that their product will "completely solve the problem" if the consumer only "acts now". This sunshine pumping benefits only the pumper at the expense of the one it is erroneously poured upon.

Barack Obama's grossly positive State of the Union address was full of sunshine pumping in hopes that the American public would forget the reality of the current recession and be so convinced of its supposed economic recovery that they would reelect him in 2012.

I was so sunshine pumped by the used car salesman that I ended up paying 5K over the car's actual value.

A very sunshine-y person who seems extremely happy and enthusiastic all the time. Sunshines are often girls. They are loved by many even thugh they can sometimes be annoying. They are often quite attractive and very good in bed. If you are lucky enough to meet a Sunshine in your lifetime, then you will notice they are one of the most amazing people you have met.
