The first use was on Craigslist in 2005 when a poster displayed and image from a Thrones record in which the word "Thrones" due to intense caligraphy looked like the word "earoneg." The example can be seen here: forums.craigslist.org/?ID=35080826

Ever since then, when a picture is posted and needs more explanation, "earoneg" is posted and the explanation comes shortly after

The name of an inn in Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time books. It's sign depicts a badger dancing with a silver shovel.

The phrase is somewhat infamous in that noboy actually knows what Easing the Badger actually means - people just assume it'll funny and quite lewd.

Jordan himself occasionally toyed with these assumptions without confirming anything.

Bret Easton Ellis

Modern-day author who wrote sharp, amusing, depressing and sometimes very disturbing satires about superficial people. Notable mention of books centered on cocaine-fueled rich kids in Los Angeles, A yuppie serial killer, a male model etc. He wrote; Less than Zero, The Rules of Attraction, American Psycho, The Informers and Glamorama. I wish he would write more.

Bret Easton Ellis is (or was) great.
