To give someone your blessing is to give them your permission to follow through with their plan. A boyfriend will approach his girlfriends parents for their blessing to get married. If you are very hospitable to someone they may leave your house with their blessing. To be a blessing is when you help someone out in such ways they can't afford to repay you.
