The deference between a preteen and a tween:

Preteen: Someone between the ages of 10 and 13. Simple as that

Tween: Someone between the ages of 8 and 14/15, who in general:
Regularly watches disney channel
Need to follow the lastest trends
Almost exclusevely listens to pop

Not all people in this age group are tweens, and it is extremely insulting to call someone(especially 14 or 15 year old) a tween or preteen if/when they are
not.

An awkward mix of a child and a teen. Most tweens start dating as soon as possible. Tweens try to be real cool. Tweens still don’t understand life. Tweens learn what sports they are good at. Tweens have learned what music they like and don’t like. Tweens are best age group to be in, even though it gets crazy.

Tween

I used to think it was a fusion between teen and weenie, but haven't seen that around anywhere else. They tend to listen to Hannah Montana and the Jonas brothers, also watch Disney all day long. Tend to begin to take on the unruly attitudes that Disney whores display to their mothers in the show. Generally 10-15.

Mum: Come on Sarah, if you do your homework I'll get you the new Jonas brothers album.
