progressive metal

A subgenre of metal incorporating elements from progressive rock. The earliest bands to fuse these two genres together were Dream Theater, Watchtower, Psychotic Waltz, and Fates Warning. (Although some argue King Crimson were ahead of their time doing this with 21st Century Schizoid Man.)

Keyboards/synths, and other instruments not seen as often in the metal genre are more commonly used in progressive metal.

It's common for progressive metal acts to have very long song lengths with plenty of complex instrumental sections which give the musicians a lot of room to show off. Odd-time signatures are also are commonly implemented.

Progressive metal lyrics tend to be very cerebral, with elements of fantasy, psychology, and science fiction thrown into the mix. (The sort of lyrics you'd expect from Stephen Hawking or Sigmund Freud if they ever formed a heavy metal band.)

Professional Stoner

A Professional Stoner is someone who smokes marijuana on a daily basis from once a day or to an all day activity. Yet what separates a Professional Stoner from a regular stoner is that a Professional Stoner is a PRO. They have the ability to go on with their daily life like a normal average-day Joe. Professional Stoner's do not let marijuana take over their lives and make them incompetent or lazy. Marijuana acts as a stress reliever for the smoker to make life a little easier to live with. Professional Stoner's are active and productive everyday because they have the ability to smoke marijuana as much as they like as well as continue with their schooling, work and responsibities.

Amy and Tuan are Professional Stoner's because they smoke marijuana everyday and still hold their responsibilities in school, work and at home.

Progresstination

The act of making good progress on low priority tasks instead of completing tasks that are high priority. Differs from procrastination because the subject is in fact being productive in a manner of speaking.

In a superb feat of progresstination, I avoided working on my term paper, but cleaned my entire house and did the laundry!
