junkyard

"Junkyard" is the best word to describe DVD players and boomboxes without remote controllers, as these appliances are commonly found in junkyards whilst no longer having remote controllers. For example, that one old LaserDisc player manufactured on Tuesday, April 2nd 1991 you has once found in a junkyard, that has lost its remote controller for quite a while.
"Junkyard" perfectly sums up those old DVD players and boomboxes missing their remote controls. Like that LaserDisc player from Tuesday, April 2nd 1991, that you found in the junkyard—now just a relic without its remote.
